Event Details

Join us as we make one of the U.P.s favorite recipes - Pasties.  When the English migrated to Michigan's Upper Peninsula in the 1800's, they brought with them their beloved national dish: the pasty. The pasty has become such a large part of the regional culture and there is even a regional festival to celebrate the dish.

Presented in partnership with the White Lake Township Library as part of the Great Michigan Read.  The 2021-22 title is "The Women of the Copper Country" by Mary Doria Russell.

The 2021–22 Great Michigan Read is presented by Michigan Humanities and supported by national, statewide, and local partners, including the National Endowment for the Humanities, The Meijer Foundation, Laborers’ International Union of North America, MSU Federal Credit Union, and Library of Michigan.
