This month we are discussing "The War That Saved My Life" by Kimberly Bradley. This historical fiction follows the story of two children who are evacuated from London to avoid the bombings of WW2. The older child has been locked up her whole life due to her abusive mother's aversion to the child's deformed foot. This Newbery Honor book is a must-read, inspiring story of resilience, overcoming the odds, and the amazing capacity of people to heal and change.
